Deopham postmill was an early postmill and although it could have lasted for several hundred years in one form or other, it had long gone by the 1800s. |
From soon after 1200 documents fairly often, for one reason or another, make mention of a windmill. Thus we know there was a windmill at Henham-on-the-Hill in Essex in 1203, one built at Deopham near Norwich in 1303 at a cost of £12. 19. 10. |
1303: Mill built at a cost of £12 19s.10d. |
