Burnham Overy
Staithe postmill |
Burnham Overy Staithe postmill stood in Mill Road to the south of the village. A postmill was moved to the site from Wells in 1866, presumably to replace an earlier mill. When the mill was sold in 1889 a bake office and grocery shop were also being run on the premises. |
Post mill stood in Black’s Lane, Wells next the Sea early 19th Cent. ….The old mill was removed some years ago & re-erected at Burnham Overy Staithe & in 1892 was derelict. It had been on fire more than once, but had survived the ordeal. Not worth breaking up it is left to rot & tumble away. My first recollection of the mill was as far back as 1835.
