Hainford towermill in Chapel Street was owned and worked by William Sexton from 1853 to 1865. He also owned Briningham_postmill and leased the wind and steam mill in Jetty Street on the Denes at
Gt Yarmouth that was demolished in December 1880.


The earlier postmill in Hainford could have been dismantled to make way for Chapel Street towermill or Newton Road towermill.

Norfolk News - 19th September 1857


HAINFORD near Norwich
TO BE SOLD by Auction by Messrs. Barcham & Son on Saturday 29 May 1858 at 4 o'clock.
All that capital and substantially built TOWER WINDMILL with convenient brick & tiled dwelling house, stables, granary and outbuildings attached, with about 3 acres and 5 perches of arable land, situate at Hainford in the occupation of Wm. Sexton, who is under notice to quit.

Kelly's of 1879 lists William Sexton as a farmer in Haynford and White's of 1864 lists William & Samuel Sexton as farmers with William Sexton also as a flour dealer.
