Holt Heath post mill stood on the east side of the Hunworth Road. It was built by Alexander and Thomas Boyd in 1847 along with Heath House, which has a datestone 1847 on a chimney. At 18 feet high and 24 feet in diameter, the three storey roundhouse containing 14 foot piers, was the second highest ever recorded in Norfolk, with only Swanton_Morley being some 2 feet higher. The mill used 2 pairs of patent sails to power two pairs of French burr stones and had a fantail. |
The census of 1851 recorded William Daplyln as a journeyman miller working at Holt towermill. |
