Mattishall Burgh postmill possibly had a short working life and was probably blown over in a gale some time before 1740.

In Mattishall Burgh, Burgh Field lay on Burgh Hill, i.e. north and east of the church and furlongs lying in it included Brake Furlong, Thaxtead's Furlong, Strongland Furlong and Grims Furlong. The windmill in it was also mentioned. Thomas Clark held 1 rood in 'the field of Mattishall Burgh (wherein a windmill was lately built but now fallen down) ... near a certain way called Colecroft Way.'
